(VEN) - Vietnam ranks 11th among the top 30 retail markets in the world, with its retail market valued at an estimated US$95.4 billion in 2016 and expected to reach US$124.2 billion in 2018. However, modern retail distribution is still in its infancy. The issue was discussed at a recent seminar on developing Vietnam’s distribution sector sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in cooperation with the Korean Re-shaping Development Institute (ReDI).

(VEN) - In the first half of 2018, Vietnam’s total export turnover reached an estimated US$113.93 billion, an increase of 16 percent compared to a year ago, setting the stage for strong annual growth.

(VEN) - The Vietnamese garment and textile sector is forecast to achieve one of the highest growth rates over the next 12 years. It is a key economic sector in terms of employment creation and contribution to exports. However, the sector needs more government support to remove bottlenecks.

A Vietnamese company has won a bid to export 60,000 tonnes of Japonica brown rice to the Republic of Korea (RoK), defeating competition from rivals of China, Thailand and Australia.

Vietnam’s exports to Germany hit US$2.85 billion in the first five months of this year, up 8.6% compared to the same period last year.

(VEN) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched Vietnamese goods points of sale in dozens of industrial zones (IZs) to provide workers with access to high quality, reasonably priced products and to boost domestic production.

The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre earned more than US$459.3 million in export turnover in the first half of 2018, an increase of 15.31 percent from the same period last year, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

The Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) recently arranged eight Vietnamese firms operating in the field of agricultural production to participate in and introduce their fresh and dried fruit, such as jackfruit, durian and lemons, at the 2018 Guangzhou International Fruit Expo in China’s Guangdong province.
