(VEN) - Within only 10 years of its founding, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) has built a modern power transmission system, contributing greatly to the country’s socioeconomic development. This success is attributed to the corporation’s efficient use of official development assistance (ODA).

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has approved a project in which Germany will provide EUR5 million to help Vietnam develop smart grids for renewable energy and energy efficiency.

(VEN) - Industry promotion programs have contributed greatly to craft villages’ production and sales in Nghe An Province.

The State-run Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Group produced 74.42 billion kWh of electricity in the first five months of 2018, an increase of 10.5 percent from a year earlier.

(VEN) - The Power Transmission Company 1 (PTC1) under the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) is launching 14 remote control centers and unmanned substations this year in order to improve its transmission network management and operational capabilities.

The National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has contributed 40.8 trillion VND (US$1.79 billion) to the State budget in the first five months of 2018, exceeding the plan by 32 percent and representing 55 percent of the yearly target.

The Hai Phong-based Pha Rung Shipyard Company delivered the 6,500-DWT oil tanker "YN YEOSU" to BS Tankers and Yantec from the Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 31.

(VEN) - Historical records of the power sector show that in 1954, when French forces left Vietnam, the physical infrastructure in the north consisted of five power plants with total capacity not exceeding 31.5MW and total power output of about 53 million kWh a year. By 1975, these figures stood at 451MW and 1,264 billion kWh a year, respectively. The power system was mainly used for industrial production and important services in big cities.

Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG) signed an agreement with Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) to acquire the latter’s equity stake in Long Son Petrochemical Co. Ltd.

The 500kV power transmission network, which runs through 42 provinces and cities throughout Vietnam, has been classed as a critical project to national security by the Prime Minister.

The construction of the Gelex Ninh Thuan solar farm project with a capacity of 50 MWp kicked off in Phuoc Dinh commune of Thuan Nam district in the south central province of Ninh Thuan on June 4.
