The Lung Kim School site is about 8km from the Na Kieng Nursery School. To reach the site, however, one can go by motorbike on a mountain road for only 3km, then walk on rocky ascents. The school currently has 17 students and one teacher. Its wood plank classroom is roofed with simple materials and has no access to electricity and water. Due to lack of a separate room for the teacher, the classroom is used not only for teaching purposes but also as the teacher’s room.
The project uses funds totaling VND220 million from the Oil and Gas Exploitation Department of PVN, HLHVJOC, PV Gas and SWPOC to build a new classroom and a teacher’s room at the Lung Kim School site.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony for the project, Vu Dao Minh, Deputy Head of the PVN’s Oil and Gas Exploitation Department, said, “Taking a tough journey to reach the Lung Kim School site, we have been touched to see the difficult working condition of the teacher in this Central Highlands school. Through the Dantri online newspaper, we will support the construction of a new classroom and a teacher’s room at the school, hoping that these new facilities will improve the working condition for the teacher, as well as the learning condition for her students.”
On this occasion, the Oil and Gas Exploitation Department and other member units of PVN presented school stationery, toys and confectionery to students at the Lung Kim School. The gifts were donated by people working in the oil and gas sector.
