According to Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudie, Vietnam can be proud of its achievements in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. The coming challenge is to translate the medical success into a positive impact on economic development. This aid program will provide international standard economic policy advice and analysis for Vietnamese leaders and policymakers to help the country accelerate economic recovery, giving priority to gender equality and social welfare.

The Vietnamese government has effectively controlled the Covid-19 pandemic inside Vietnam, as reflected in low numbers of infections and no recorded deaths. However, the pandemic has significantly affected Vietnam's ability to resist external shocks.
This additional funding will help protect and support vulnerable groups through social security improvement.
