ASEAN countries will step up cooperation and share resources to ensure energy security through expanding power grid connectivity and developing renewable energies.

As thermal power accounts for the largest proportion of Vietnam’s energy production, the country is facing challenges to ensure sufficient supply of coal for thermal power plants in the coming years.

Vietnam’s index of industrial production (IIP) was estimated to have risen by 10.4% in the first ten months of 2018, much higher than the 9.6% growth level of the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
