New push to link local support industries with multinationals

(VEN) - A new program launched last month in Hanoi is designed to help Vietnamese firms become suppliers of multinational corporations and expand operations of existing suppliers. This is the latest development in a concerted effort by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to strengthen the country’s support industries.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the implementation of the national program on electrical energy efficiency has achieved the target of 3.4 pct and 5.65 pct of total energy consumption conservation during the 2006-2015 period and 2011-2015 period, equivalent to about 4.5 million tonnes and 11.261 million tonnes of oil (TOE), respectively.

Siemens supplies equipment for Vietnam’s largest solar farm

Siemens has won the contract to supply systems to its customer Trung Nam Group in Vietnam and put the country’s largest solar farm into operation. The farm is the first solar project for Siemens in South-East Asia, and has a capacity of 204 megawatts peak (MWp). The project will deliver up to 425 Gigawatt hours (GWh) per year. This is enough to supply approximately 200,000 households with electricity and saves around 250,000 tons of CO2.
